FAQ
Questions we get before the first order
Minimums, file formats, encoding, shipping, and the awkward ones about refunds. If your question is not here, email [email protected] — you will get a real answer, usually the same day.
Ordering & minimums
How an order starts, what the smallest run looks like, and what a quote includes.
What is the minimum order?
Most card products start at 100 cards per design. Blank and stock cards can go lower. For programs above 10,000 cards the price is quoted individually, because offset printing becomes cheaper per unit at volume.
Do I need an account to order?
No. You send a request through the contact form or email [email protected], we reply with a quote, and the order is confirmed by email. There is no portal to sign into and no subscription.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Artwork preparation, proofing and plate setup are included in the quoted per-card price. If a job genuinely needs something extra — a custom die, a new foil colour — we show it as a separate line before you approve anything.
How long is a quote valid?
Thirty days from the date we send it. Material costs move, so after thirty days we re-quote rather than silently changing the price on the invoice.
Can I order a small test run before committing?
Yes, and for a first order we usually recommend it. Run 100 cards, put them in front of your front desk or turnstile, and scale up once you know the finish and encoding are right.
Artwork & proofs
What files to send, what we fix for you, and what the proof actually guarantees.
What file format should I send?
A press-ready PDF is ideal. AI or EPS with fonts outlined is equally good. If that is not available, send whatever you have — a PNG, a Canva export, a photo of an old card — and prepress will rebuild it.
I do not have a designer. Can you build the artwork?
Yes. Send your logo, brand colours and the text you want on the card, and we will lay it out and send a proof for review. Basic layout is included in the quote.
What is a digital proof and what does it guarantee?
A PDF at final card size showing exactly what will print, including bleed, safety margins and the stripe or chip keep-out zone. It guarantees layout and content. It is not a colour proof — physical colour can vary slightly between monitors and print runs, which is what a sample pack is for.
What happens if I approve a proof with a typo?
The proof is the approval document, so a typo you approved will print. We read every proof before sending it and flag anything that looks wrong, but the final check is yours.
Can I make changes after approving?
Yes, if production has not started. Once the job is on press or the encoding has begun, changes become a new run — see the Refund & Return Policy for exactly where that line falls.
Production & turnaround
How long things take, and what makes an order faster or slower.
How long does production take?
Typically 5–7 business days after you approve the proof. Orders with variable data, scratch-off PINs or RFID encoding can need one extra day for testing.
Can you rush an order?
Often, yes. Rush options depend on the encoding work involved and on press availability that week. Ask early — a rush confirmed two weeks out is easy; a rush confirmed on a Friday afternoon usually is not.
Why does encoding add time?
Because we test rather than assume. A sample batch is written and read against the specification you supplied before the full run starts. If it fails, we would rather find out on ten cards than ten thousand.
Chips, stripes & encoding
The technical questions that decide whether the card works at the door.
Can you encode magnetic stripes and RFID chips?
Yes. We program HiCo and LoCo magnetic stripes (track 1/2/3), MIFARE Classic 1K/4K, DESFire EV2/EV3, EM4100/EM4200 125 kHz proximity, and NFC tags.
What do you need from me to encode correctly?
The credential specification your system expects: track format, sector keys, block layout, UID handling, ID ranges. If you do not know it, send the make and model of your reader, PMS or access controller and we will tell you what it likely needs.
Do you guarantee the card will work with my system?
We guarantee it will match the specification you give us, and we test a sample batch against that specification. We cannot guarantee compatibility with hardware we have never seen — which is why we ask for the reader details up front rather than after the run.
Do you encode the data, or do I?
Either. We can encode from a spreadsheet you supply, or ship cards blank or pre-formatted for your own in-house encoder.
Shipping & delivery
Where we ship, how long it takes, and who handles customs.
Where do you ship?
Everywhere in the United States and Canada, both from Milwaukee. Canadian orders ship by tracked courier.
How long does shipping take?
Ground transit is typically 2–5 business days in the continental US. Expedited options are available at quote time. Canadian transit is usually 4–8 business days plus customs clearance.
Who pays duties and taxes on Canadian orders?
The recipient, unless we have quoted landed costs in writing. Canadian GST/HST and brokerage are charged by the carrier on delivery.
Can you ship to multiple locations?
Yes, for a franchise or multi-property program we can split a run across addresses with individual tracking. Tell us before the order is placed so the quantities and labels can be set up correctly.
Payment & policies
How payment works, what is refundable, and what happens if something is wrong.
When do I pay?
For first orders we typically take payment or a deposit before production starts, and the balance before shipping. Repeat accounts can be invoiced on terms.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card, ACH and check. For Canadian customers we invoice in USD unless agreed otherwise.
Can I cancel after ordering?
Before production starts and before proof approval, yes — you are charged only for any prepress work already done. After proof approval the job is committed, because the cards are made to your artwork.
What if the cards arrive damaged or wrong?
Tell us within 10 business days of delivery with photos and your order reference. If the fault is ours we reprint at our cost. Full details are in the Refund & Return Policy.
Do you print cards for anything I want?
No. We will not print forged government identification, payment instruments, or designs that infringe someone else’s trademark. The Acceptable Use Policy lists what is out of scope.
Still not answered?
Email us the card type and your question. We answer every message within one business day, and we will tell you honestly if your job is a bad fit for us.
